Janice Edwards is Community Relations Director and Host and Producer of Bay Area Vista on NBC11/KNTV. Before joining NBC11, Janice was an update producer/anchor and a reporter at KRON’s BAYTV and the host and contributing producer of KBHK’s Black Renaissance the longest running talk show dedicated to the Bay Area's African-American Community. Her celebrity interviews include Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Viggo Mortensen, Kevin Costner, Danny Glover, John Travolta, and Andre 3000. Janice’s career in broadcasting began in Atlanta, Georgia, as co-host of a teen talk show for WSB radio. She continued to work in radio and to write for newspapers as an undergraduate at Harvard University and a graduate student at U-C, Berkeley School of Journalism. During that time, she also studied in Spain and wrote for the Spanish newspaper, El Mundo, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Although born in Chicago, Janice considers herself a Bay Area semi-native, having also worked as a producer at KRON-TV and KPIX-TV, in addition to reporting. Janice is a contributing author to the book Quality Angles featuring her interviews with Kevin Costner, Robert Townsend, Lloyd Richards and the Bay Area’s Evan White. Janice’s honors include recognition from Women of Excellence , the Digital Griot Project, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Santa Clara Valley, the Kwanzaa Institute of Santa Clara Valley, 100 Black Men of Silicon Valley, and the Bay Area Black Media Coalition for her work. Janice is an executive board member of Friends of Faith, founded by the late Faith Fancher, and a member of the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), Junior Achievement of Silicon Valley, and the American Heart Association of Silicon Valley. ![]() |
