Earned income in 2003 with total earnings below $34,692?

AnewAmerica Community Corporation will be joining the East Bay Community Law Center in delivering tax advice for free.

From February 1st to April 15th AnewAmerica volunteers will be helping organize assistant through a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center in Berkeley at the East Bay Community Law Center.  The Center is located at 3130 Shattuck Avenue.

Earn IT! Keep It ! Save It!  is a three county campaign to offer free tax help to those who earned less than $34,692 in 2003. You may qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and be eligible for a refund from the Internal Revenue Service for up to $4204.

What Is EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit)?
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable tax credit available to individuals and families earning less than $34,692 per year.

The EITC is the federal government’s largest anti-poverty measure and can be up to $4204 per year, depending on income and family type. United Way of the Bay Area, in partnership with county collaboratives in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco County, has over 45 sites where eligible tax filers can receive free tax preparation services.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) suites are located throughout Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties.


Do I Qualify?

To qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit you must:

  • Be a US Citizen or Resident Alien
  • Have earned some income in 2003, full or part time
  • Earn no more than the amounts listed at right.
