Our Work

AnewAmerica was founded in 1999 by a group of community development and immigrant rights advocates who saw a continuing lack of integrated job creation, asset development, and community empowerment strategies for low-income new Americans living in the Bay Area region of California.

AnewAmerica addresses this need by offering the only program in the nation that provides entrepreneurs and their families with a 3-year holistic program, involving customized experiential business training and coaching, certification in business planning, access to markets, industry sector incubation, asset-building support, access to credit, and social responsibility education.

As a result of our program, new Americans find encouragement for integration in social, cultural and political life in the United States and envision new future possibilities in this country. New Americans in our program experience the creation of new businesses to bring additional income to their families, create new jobs through self-employment, earn a college certificate in business planning, learn about assets and plan a future where homeownership and retirement is a possibility. They also create green products and incorporate green practices as they develop understanding of the power of business and social responsibility.
