  Our Vision

AnewAmerica is a bridge between the old and the new American. New Americans have the power to facilitate constantly evolving culture and institutions. We are not just about economic empowerment. Our strategy of asset building for new American families is also a vehicle for political empowerment. We are helping the transformation of America into a more just and compassionate nation.

anewamerica of opportunity

AnewAmerica's model is nothing new, just innovative.  It's what any American has used for over 200 years:  opportunity, a leveled field, know how, access to the system, resources, and a support network.

Our model is based on the old formula used by any "old" American entrepreneur.  Who do you know and how do you do it.  Unlike other Americans, many immigrant entrepreneurs do not have the tools to access "the system" in their new country.  They fear government because they experienced human rights abuses in their home countries.  They face barriers of language.  They lack formal credit histories to qualify for loans.  They do not have the "networks" to access markets or the mentor that will pass down the advice or technical assistance that will make their business ventures flourish.  New America's strategies are just that:  making those opportunities available to new Americans, one way to build greater equity in our society.

anewamerica of entrepreneurship

New Americans enrich this country with dreams and entrepreneurship.  They work hard and are risk-takers, but their success is hampered by the inability of our institutions to embrace their needs and cultural diversity.  During economic booms and depressions, most new Americans are often left behind.

AnewAmerica responds to the need to create practical opportunities for new Americans.  AnewAmerica focuses on building family and community assets and access to the American economic system for immigrants, refugees and new citizens who would otherwise remain disadvantaged by the very fact of being new Americans.  Personal and economic empowerment, along with social and political empowerment, will allow new Americans to enrich this country and their communities.

There are no good profits in a society where children go hungry.

AnewAmerica's incubator participants learn about each others' cultures.  Our partner institutions invest their share in the making of our programs.  Our communities get stronger with the energy and resources invested by AnewAmerica's participants.  AnewAmerica's programs have a unifying thread of community development and cultural empowerment.  While New America works with microentrepreneurs to build their businesses, our model guides them to discover ways to better their communities, the environment and the global society.
