AnewAmerica recently achieved a great milestone with the opening reception of our SBA Women's Business Center on May 18, 2005. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who made this wonderful evening possible: AnewAmerica's supporters, clients, board members, volunteers and our friends at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).  The reception was truly a collaborative event!

Over one hundred guests joined AnewAmerica to celebrate the event, infusing a warm spirit and energy that were felt throughout the evening.  Harmonies of live jazz delighted the crowd.  Inspirational stories and photographs of new Americans lined the gallery.  Tamales, salsa, desserts and other goodies catered by AnewAmerica's food entrepreneurs were a delicious treat.  Keynote speakers, Hon. Ignacio de la Fuente and Hon. Alice Lai-Bitker delivered empowering messages for our new American communities.

"I am truly in awe," says the Deputy District Director of the SBA, Darlene McKinnon, "of the AnewAmerica clients who spoke and the stories I read around the room." Not only did the reception provide AnewAmerican entrepreneurs with an opportunity to network within the local business community, but the function also served as a testament to the power and spirit of the new American woman!
